Green tea, diet and exercise How to shed those Christmas pounds

Green tea, diet and exercise How to shed those Christmas poundsChristmas: the season of goodwill, celebration... and overindulgence. Chances are that, now it's all over, you will want to compensate for those glasses of wine, that stodgy Christmas pud, and those goose-fat-laden potatoes. The good news is that a combination of green tea, diet and plenty of exercise should leave you feeling refreshed, reinvigorated - and, with any luck, a few pounds lighter.

Green tea can complement your diet in a number of ways:

  • Green tea is less processed than other types of tea. So, it retains many of the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that occur naturally in the leaves of the tea plant.
  • Green tea contains no calories. And, what's more, it is drunk without sugar. Therefore, you can sip this delicious drink with a completely clear conscience.
  • Green tea can aid digestion. Its tannin is said to stimulate the stomach, and increase intestinal activity.
  • Green tea can help alleviate hunger. Try drinking a cup before a meal, to see if it works for you.
  • Green tea may help you burn fat. It is said to help stimulate the body's fat-degrading enzymes. So why not try drinking it after a meal?

We're not dietary experts, nor do we want to be. We just love green tea, and are glad of any excuse to drink a cup. It is mouthwateringly tasty - and, for this reason alone, we encourage you to incorporate it into your diet. Drinking two to three cups of green tea a day will help cleanse your system, and rid your body of those Christmas toxins. This is what we will be doing come December 26th, and we're expecting to feel all the better for it.

If you prefer a fresh, tart, flavour, then Japanese green tea is likely to make your tastebuds tingle. For a milder, sweeter, flavour, a Chinese green tea is sure to be just the ticket.

Of course, it's not just green tea that can help you detox. Herbal and fruit infusions come in a multiplicity of delicious flavours and, being naturally caffeine-free, provide a healthy alternative to traditional teas. Fruit and herbal infusions, like green teas, contain a wealth of goodness - goodness that your body can only be grateful for, after the excesses of the festive season. Our range of fruit infusions and herbal infusions is so diverse, you are sure to find a drink to suit your tastes... and your mood.

Last but not least, we mustn't forget the health benefits of Pu-erh tea. This, though, is a subject in itself - and one that, if you'd like to join us, we'll share with you in the New Year...
